This is a cocoon I found on our lemon tree.  Home Depot said it will be a beautiful black and yellow butterfly.
Another view of my butterfly cocoon.   Can't wait to see it emerge.
The little guy is getting ready to attach itself for the next phase of development.
I hope these guys don't eat emerging butterflies.
It is now attached in position to begin to emerge.  I think.  I don't think it has "flown the coop" yet.   will check tomorrow.
Won't be too long now.  You can see that the cocoon is splitting away from the wings.  More tomorrow
It looks like the tips of the wings are visible.  The cocoon is breaking off.  More tomorrow.   Both cocoons look to be getting ready to split.
Not sure which end of the cocoon I am looking at.  (what is that about ending a sentence with a preposition)
Not sure if it is dead or alive but it is changing every day.

I don't know about you, but I think the emergy thingy has already emerged.  I still plan to watch it for a while longer.
